"Gift shop was a big letdown"
Like i said, the museum itself was fine and my kid had a good enough time, but the gift shop was disappointing. I expected it to be a fun little stop at the end, and it just felt kind of random and picked over.
There really wasn’t much Chicago Children’s Museum stuff, which surprised me. Like i said, most of what they had looked like basic toys you could grab anywhere, and the sizes/options were really limited too.
My kid wanted to pick out a souvenir, but we ended up leaving without buying anything. For a place that’s supposed to be all about kids, I thought the gift shop would have way better choices.
"Party was a bit chaotic"
Had my kid’s birthday party here. It was okay. The museum is fun, but the party felt rushed and kind of disorganized. Staff were nice, just hard to find when we needed them. For the price, I expected better. Kids had fun though.

"Fun for the kids, but a bit of a hassle to navigate"
I brought my kids here and they definitely had a good time, so I’ll give it credit for that. But getting around the place was frustrating. We kept taking wrong turns, ending up in areas we didn’t mean to, and the signs weren’t exactly helpful. A few exhibits felt like they were tucked away, and it wasn’t always obvious which floor we were supposed to go to next. The staff were polite and helpful when we asked, which I appreciated, but I really don’t want to have to stop someone every 10 minutes just to figure out where we are. It could be so much better with clearer maps and better directions

"The tickets worked out in the end, but..."
The tickets worked out in the end, but the whole booking process felt way more confusing than it needed to be. I got through it, sure, but it felt like wasted energy just trying to figure out what should’ve been a simple reservation

"Refunds used to be quicker"
Canceling my order was straightforward, but the refund took a few days to come through. I feel like this process used to be a bit faster, so it was a little disappointing having to wait longer than expected

"Holiday events felt like a bit of a bait and switch"
I was expecting the seasonal events to be a lot more fun and festive based on how they were advertised. Once we got there, it felt way more crowded and rushed than I thought it would be, and there just wasn’t as much going on as I expected. Kind of had that bait-and-switch feeling where it looked great beforehand, but the actual experience didn’t really live up to it.

"Fun spot, but the hours threw me off a little"
I had a good time here overall, it’s a fun place and definitely worth checking out. The only thing that was kind of frustrating was the hours situation. What was posted online wasn’t super clear, and the closure notice came late, so we were left guessing a bit. Not the end of the world, but it did throw off our plans. Also, totally unrelated, but we ended up grabbing snacks nearby afterward and that kind of saved the evening. I’d still come back, I’d just double-check the hours before heading over...

"Fun for the kids"
It got crowded at times, but the kids still had a great time. There’s just something about it that kept them excited and happy, so overall it was worth it.
"Pretty much ignored the whole time"
It felt like we were invisible. The so-called staff barely lifted a finger to help us, and when we did try to get someone’s attention, it was like we were bothering them. Not a great experience at all.
"Felt too babyish for my older kid"
I got this for my 10-year-old thinking it would keep them entertained, but they were bored quickly. It felt like it was aimed at much younger kids, and it had that vibe where they made it my problem for expecting it to work for an older child. Just not a great fit for us...

"Fun spot, but loud and a little confusing"
I took my kid here and they definitely had a good time, so I’ll give it that. But wow, it was really loud in some areas, and a few spots felt crowded and echoey, which made it hard for my child to settle down when they started getting overwhelmed. I also felt like the next steps weren’t super clear once we got inside, like where to go first or what areas were best for younger kids, so we kind of wandered around figuring it out. Overall it’s a good museum, just maybe not the easiest place if your kid gets overwhelmed easily

"A Fun Day Out, But Brace Your Wallet"
We had a really fun visit, but wow, once you start adding up single admission for the kids, it feels like the total climbs at lightning speed. It was one of those moments where you’re having a great time, then suddenly your wallet is quietly fighting for its life. If you think you’ll go more than once or twice, the membership definitely makes way more sense. It’s not exactly the cheapest day out, but for us, it ended up being worth it overall.

"Kinda Disappointing"
I was hoping this would be more engaging, but there wasn’t much learning or fun to be had. It kinda felt like it missed the mark for me.

"Didn’t Feel Right to Ignore"
The place felt dirty and kind of worn down. I’m not trying to be harsh, but I think customers deserve a clean, well-kept space, and it just didn’t seem like much care was being put into that.

"Booked a field trip through chicagochildrensmuseum.org for..."
Booked a field trip through chicagochildrensmuseum.org for our school group, and most of the info was there, which was nice in theory. I still ended up emailing twice to confirm the times and payment details, because apparently guessing is part of the group booking experience.
The staff were friendly once they got back to us, and the actual visit went totally fine. I’d just love the coordination side to be a little smoother and faster, especially for school groups trying to keep everything organized without becoming part-time detectives.

"Felt uneasy with the kids there"
I didn’t feel very comfortable having the kids there. It didn’t seem like the staff were really paying attention, and bigger kids kept running into the smaller ones like no one was properly handling the situation. It just felt careless, and I spent the whole time stressed instead of enjoying it. We ended up leaving early.

"My kids had a good time with…"
My kids had a good time with the interactive exhibits, especially the water play area and the building stations. I liked that they could actually touch things, move around, and stay busy instead of just looking at displays. That said, a few of the stations seemed worn down or weren’t working quite right, and the place got crowded really quickly. For the cost, I expected it to be a little better maintained. It wasn’t a bad visit at all, just not as special as I hoped. I left feeling a little disappointed because I really wanted to love it more than I did.

"Easy Once Inside"
It was easy once I got inside, but getting there and figuring out parking was kind of annoying. It just made the whole thing feel more stressful than it needed to be.

"Not the Most Kid-Friendly Setup"
I was disappointed with the amenities. The bathrooms were messy, the stroller space felt really cramped, and there wasn’t a comfortable place to sit with the kids (which makes a big difference when you’re out with little ones). I expected a lot better
